Checklist to Help You Do Quality Check of Woven Labels Like a Pro

/

Our buyers should check the quality of the woven labels as soon as they receive the custom woven labels from us. Many brands only check the appearance roughly after receiving the bulk goods. This way of checking is wrong. Then how to comprehensively check whether your woven label is qualified? The following checklist will help you do the quality inspection like a pro.

Before that, I would also like to point out that these suggestions help you to solve two things: 1. Although you are a novice, you need to make sure that the woven label you receive is the perfect product, and 2. Getting the perfect knit label allows you to start your new project. Once you have checked the boxes below, you are one step closer to your road to business success.

1. Check Pattern Text

Check carefully whether the pattern and text of the woven label are wrong and whether the size of the pattern and text is correct. Whether there is any omission of text. Generally speaking, a professional woven label manufacturer will not make such low-level mistakes, because there will be a person responsible for quality control.

2. Inspect the Fine Print

For some woven label designs with different fonts, check whether the slant of the text is correct. It should be noted that some garment brands will make special treatment of the text for anti-counterfeiting design, such as changing the spacing between certain two letters; connecting two letters with fine stitches between them, etc. If you have this kind of anti-counterfeiting design, please focus on checking this point. If the check does not meet the customer’s requirements, the woven labels are not qualified. For the buyer, this is an unacceptable defective product.

3. Compare Colors

Usually, the label color is made according to the Pantone color code given by the buyer. The color of the finished product should be the same as the Pantone color of the design sketch. But there are exceptions, if your woven label starting quantity is too low and the yarn is too costly (the minimum yarn starting quantity is one ton), some manufacturers will find the closest color from their yarn color card to make it. We do too. However, we will ask for your suggestions before we make them. It is worth mentioning that not all woven label manufacturers can make computerized woven labels with gold logos, but we can.

4. Check the density

The density of the woven label refers to the density of weft yarn, that is, how many yarns are in the 1cm range. The finer the yarn, the finer the woven label will be and the higher the quality of the woven label. The yarn is usually denoted by D (DENIER) to indicate the thickness, the smaller the number, the finer the yarn. Our yarn can be 90, 70D, or 50D. Since the yarn used in the shuttle loom is thicker, there is a limitation on the color selection, including the base color, there are at most four colors.

5. Touch the back of the woven label

After receiving the customer’s design sketch, we will propose whether to use the double shuttle process (a process of adding heavy yarn to make the pattern more three-dimensional). However, after the pattern or logo is re-shuttled, there will be a loose thread on the back of the woven label. So if you use this process, there is floating yarn on the back, it is not a product quality problem.

6. Identify Edges

There are mainly woven-edge woven labels and cut-edge woven labels in the market. Weaving edge label is woven out at once according to the demand of width. And cut-edge woven label is in the machine to weave a whole weave like cloth, and then cut into the required shape according to the width. The cutting is also divided into hot cutting and ultrasonic cutting. Hot cutting will cause the polyester yarn to gather into a small lump that irritates the skin, so we recommend ultrasonic cutting with smooth edges.

7. Examine Post process

Check the folding method of the woven label (center fold, mitre fold, Manhattan fold), die-cutting (commonly used for cutting shaped woven labels or patches), starching (soak the label into the sizing water, then dry or dry to make the woven mark thicker and stiffer), backing (hook& loop backing, iron-on backing, peel & stick backing, etc.) and other processes. For example, whether the cut-edge woven label is a loose edge, whether the edges are soft; in the starching, whether there is more rubber solution and less water, or less rubber solution and more water, otherwise the label will be too hard or too soft.

Our Custom Woven Labels

Label Type

Flat woven label

The pattern and text are woven with interlocking warp and weft yarns. This type of label is thin and the yarn is a single shuttle. Although it can realize the text pattern, the content cannot be complicated. This type of label is generally used as a size label and a wash label.

Double brocade woven label

Double the number of shuttles used in the flat woven label, you will get the double brocade woven label. Its pattern can be more complex, more three-dimensional, and can be woven out of as many as ten kinds of colors.

Satin woven label

The satin woven label is obtained by doubling the warp yarn. This type of woven label has a soft and luxurious appearance, but the choice of colors is limited. Generally, white, black, or lighter colors are used for the base color. If you insist on a satin label on a bright base color, we recommend foil stamping and rayon thread.

Note:

The foil stamping process is a proprietary process for shuttle loom machines, other machines cannot do it

Reverse satin woven label

The pattern of this type of woven label is printed on the reverse side of the satin, so it has the texture of satin, but the surface is matte, presenting a softer effect.
